Goodbye CentOS : Red Hat’s way of neutralizing competition

Goodbye CentOS!
CentOS, a free version of RHEL is not going to be available anymore for future versions. Red Hat has effectively neutralized the competition. This happened within Red Hat being acquired by IBM in 2019. Red Hat before being acquired by IBM had allowed continuation of CentOS project even after it ‘acquired’ it in 2014. Wast this decision an outcome of the typical corporate pressure?
Is the new community – under Rocky Linux going to rise to the occasion and show the power of collaboration is greater than corporate considerations?
